Museum of Disability History Opening

museum exhibit

The Museum of Disability History officially opens its doors on February 17, 2026! Founded in 1998 in Buffalo, New York, and now situated in its newly reimagined, fully accessible home within  the Kornreich Institute at The Viscardi Center, the museum looks forward to welcoming visitors of all ages.

Guests can explore a collection of artifacts, documents, books, and photographs tracing the disability rights movement from its beginning to today. As part of the museum experience, visitors can view the office of trailblazing advocate Dr. Henry Viscardi, Jr., which provides a glimpse into his journey from a disabled young man to a trailblazing entrepreneur and one of the world’s leading advocates for people with disabilities.

The museum offers School/Youth Field Trips; Group Tours; Traveling Exhibits; Venue Rentals; and Educational Workshops for Businesses and Organizations.
